Example of Boulle Marquetry from the Wallace Collection, London. Boulle Marquetry furniture were made by André-Charles Boulle (1642 – 1732) and later his sons. This type of marquetry, refers to inlaying tortoiseshell in patterns cut out of brass (or the opposite) and was named after André-Charles Boulle, a cabinet maker who made it popular in the 17th century.
